These Least Terns are part of the nesting
colony on Tigetail Beach, Marco Island, FL. The eggs are laid on the bare
sand, but once the young fledge, they are usually found hiding in the surrounding
tufts of vegetation. The pictures were taken with a Coolpix 990 digital
camera through a Leica Televid APO 77 spotting scope. They were then post-processed
in Photoshop.
